North Bay Honor Flight Go Fund Me

The Mission of North Bay Honor Flight is to fly war Veterans to their memorials in Washington D.C. free of charge. It is an all-expense paid trip for the Veteran. We are a non-profit 501.c3, that raises money for these flights. Our first flight is April 28-30, 2025 on a charter flight out of the Charles M. Shultz Airport. Kaiser Air has graciously offered their private gate for our take-off and return home. The Schulz family has given us the rights to their Snoopy logo, a unique opportunity for our local Honor Flight. Please visit northbayhonorflight.org for more information about the organization.

Most of the vets who will be participating in an Honor Flight are in their late 70s, 80s, and 90s and most have some medical issues. Although no medical condition will halt a vet from participating, we will follow the wishes of the vet’s physician or family. Medical support staff (made up of a combination of doctors, nurses, EMTs, or NPs) are needed in several areas of planning a safe trip for our Veterans:

Initial screening: All Vets fly on a first come, first served basis, but seriously ill vets will be moved up the list and terminally ill vets go to the top of the list.  WWII, Korean, and Vietnam War Vets also fly ahead of all other war-era Veterans. We try to follow up with the Vet whenever an application received suggests a significant medical problem.
Preliminary preflight screening: Vets participate on a first-served basis so it may be a year or more from the time the Vet fills out an application until they “fly”. Approx 12 weeks before the flight date, we start contacting Vets to ensure that they are still interested and available. We also review their medical history to ensure that we understand the current situation.
Preflight Meetings: We conduct a preflight meeting before every flight. The meeting is a combination of screening, information, training (for the guardians), and an opportunity to get to meet our Medical Staff and North Bay Honor Flight organizers and for Veterans an opportunity to meet their Guardians.. The preflight meeting is often the first time we have a face-to-face meeting with the Vet. Our medical screening at the preflight meeting is designed to understand medical conditions. For guardians, we also seek to understand if they are physically up to the challenge.
Actual Flight:  Each flight has a medical team led by a medically trained professional who has been involved in previous missions. The number of people on the medical team depends on the size of the mission and the general medical condition of the Veterans on board.

IN WASHINGTON D.C: Once we arrive in Washington DC we will board buses. There will be four tour buses for our first flight. Each bus will have at least one medical staff to ensure the safety of our Veterans. Medical staff will also be close by, staying on the same floors in the hotel as our Veterans.

Here is how your donation will be used:
Any funds raised here on GoFundMe will be put towards our Medical Team for Mission One. These funds will cover the Medical staff's flights, hotel stay, food, and their seat on the buses. We are also funding their medical supplies, backpacks
special-colored scrubs embroidered with our North Bay Honor Flight logo and the name of the staff member, wheelchairs, and emergency gear such as oxygen converters.
Any leftover funds, if any, will be moved over to the Mission 2 Medical Team.

Donors over $5000 will earn a place on our website with your name and your logo.
